Russian Championships Superfinals-2014 was held from November 27 till December 8 in Kazan. Total prize fund amounted 7 000 000 RUB.

The tournament was organized by the Russian Chess Fedaration together with Elena and Gennady Timchenko Foundation, supported by the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan. The Superfinal continued the programme "Chess in Museums" and took place on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin, in a part of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan - Khazine National Art Gallery.

The participants of the men's section were Peter Svidler, Sergey Karjakin, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Nikita Vitiugov, Igor Lysyj, Vadim Zvjaginsev, Dmitry Jakovenko, Denis Khismatullin, Boris Grachev and Alexander Morozevich.

In women's tournament Valentina Gunina, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Natalija Pogonina, Olga Girya, Alina Kashlinskaya, Ekaterina Kovalevskaya, Oksana Gritsayeva, Aleksandra Goriachkina, Alisa Galliamova and Anastasia Bodnaruk were fighting for the medals.
