15 - 20 June, 2014 Speed chess championship in 2014 was a triumph for Magnus Carlsen - he won both rapid and blitz events.

Winning this event, Norwegian prodigy became an overall World Champion, proving that he is the strongest in three disciplines: classical, rapid and blitz chess. Rapid and blitz tournaments were organized by Dubai Chess and Culture Club under the supervision of World Chess Federation. The overall prize fund summed up to 400 000$.
