We are happy to announce that Chesscast will broadcast the 42nd World Chess Olympiad

22 August 2016 The 42nd World Chess Olympiad will be held from 1 till 14 September in Baku. More than 180 teams will take part in the open section, and more than 140 teams will fight for the medals in the women's section. 

The favourites of the open tournament are the national teams of Russia, USA, China, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, France and Poland. In the women's section the highest average rating have the teams of China, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, India, USA and Hungary.  

Both tournaments will be played according to the Swiss system with 11 rounds.  The winners are determined by the number of match points they have scored. There are 4 main and 1 reserve participants in each team. 



The venue of the 42nd Chess Olympiad is Baku Crystal Hall.

Playing days: 2-6, 8-13 September. Free day: 7 September.

The games will start at 15:00 local time. The last round will begin at 11:00. 

The video broadcast of the 42nd World Chess Olympiad will be organized by "Chesscast" in three languages: Azerbaijani, English and Russian. 

The principal English commentator will be Evgenij Miroshnichenko. Miguel Illescas, Susan Polgar and Dirk Jan ten Geuzendam will help him in different rounds.
